For the Tower Defense Game my role was heavily focused on getting the systems that drove the gameplay up and running, which included the AI behind the Towers and Enemies and the Resource system for the game.

  • Project had a 2 week development cycle
  • I created 3 different custom Tower AI’s for the game in UnrealScript
  • I created 3 different custom Bots to mix up the gameplay
  • I created the Resource system that the player must use to purchase Towers and Traps

This video includes a tutorial of what to expect, if you want to skip that move ahead to the 1:20 mark.

The Sweep Tower

  • This tower was built, but didn’t make the final cut for the Tower Defense Game
  • It was the most technically involved of the 3 towers that were built
  • Created to be designer friendly by allowing for adjustments of all major features, including attack angles within the Unreal Development Kit Level Editor

With Plunder Pawns my role was as lead scripter, which left me a lot of work to get the feel just right for an outer space themed level.

  • Project had a 4 week development cycle from concept to final product
  • I created a custom gravity volume to mimic a zero gravity environment as shown at runtime in the second video
  • With the custom gravity I also had to create some custom Pawns and Bots that would work properly within the volume
  • I also worked on a resource system to give players a score and encourage some competition (die and you lose $ to respawn)
  • I created a Third Person Camera for the game to make the jump out of First Person
  • Created a custom game type to ensure everything worked how the team wanted it to
